V-Tach= ventricular tachycardia.
Ventricle: Strong bottom chambers of the heart
Tachycardia: Rapid heart rate
You might recognize this from multiple medical dramas. Patients go into V-Tach and the doctors/ nurses run to get the paddles.
During diastole, the ventricles take time to fill up with blood and during systole that blood is pumped back into the body. It is important for the ventricles to fill up; if they don't, the body won't get enough blood.
When a heart beats too fast, the ventricles don't have enough time to fill up... and this is ventricular tachycardia (V-TACH!).
The body cannot survive long in V-Tach, so the paddles are needed to come in and reset the heart's rhythm with an electric shock.
