Adhesion is the concept of two different types of molecules "adhering" (or sticking) to each other. Think about it like this: you are "adding" a new substance to another. Cohesion, on the other hand, is two of the same type of molecules "cohering" (or sticking) to each other. Same sticks to same. "Co" tends to be a prefix showing cooperation between like parties.

So, if water molecules are adhering, they have to "adhere" to something that isn't water. Like water creeping up the side of a graduated cylinder so that you get that meniscus.03/19/20
