We can convert 5 and 3/4 miles to a single fraction -----> 5 and 3/4 = 5 +3/4 = 5/1 + 3/4 = 20/4 + 3/4 = 23/4

Now we take 23/4 and divide this number by 45. ( or multiply by 1/45). This answer is 23/180 and THIS NUMBER represents the total amount of MILES PER MIN. BUUUTT we want the total amount of MILES PER HOUR. What do we do?

We take the total miles per minute and multiply this answer (23/180) by 60 minutes [60 mins = 1 hour].
