Excellent question! I'm a Psychology major at Yale, let me try to help you out.
One positive example could be an enjoyable experience that led you to want to learn about this. For example, there was this amazing girl at summer camp who wanted to be a doctor, and this made me really want to learn chemistry. This can be any enjoyable experience from your past, even something like how watching basketball made you want to learn about geometry, or when a sick passenger on a plane made you want to learn about biology.
A negative example would be something that distracts you or makes you less inclined to learn. Think about something such as someone who teased you when you were younger, and for some reason you always associate them with physics. Or a specific traumatic experience in math in middle school that always haunts you and eventually makes you hate math. Or a terrible middle school art teacher that always distracts you from learning art history!
I hope this helps. Please reply with any questions or comments! Thank you :D
