-4 and 7 both multiply to -28 and add to 3. The first step for this problem is to look at all possible factors of 28 (1*28), (2*14) and (4*7). Then try to find which set of factors would add up to either 3 or -3 with one positive number and one negative number, in this case 4 * 7. Lastly, assign the negative to the whichever number that when the two are added results in a positive number which for this problem is 4.
