The universal formula for gravitional force shows that the force is proportional to the product of the masses, and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
If one mass is doubled, the force doubles
If both masses are doubled, the to force is increased by 4X (quadrupled)
If the distance is doubled, the force decreases by 4X
