This problem is a word problem that understanding of unit rates are needed to solve. I need help understanding them fast, as I'm out of school ( recovering from surgery) and have not been taught.

34/2=17/1 = 85/x where x is the number of scoops needed for 85 cookies.

The ratio stays the same, cookies/scoops 34/2=85x

Solve that equation for x: 17x=85, x=85/17 = 5 scoops

2 scoops gave 34 cookies

4 scoops would give twice that 68

each scoop adds 17 cookies 68+17=85

4+1 scoops or 5 scoops gives 85 cookies
