Health and Health Care disparities addresses the fact that not everyone has equal access to quality healthcare due to high costs, lack of insurance, cost-prohibitive insurance, and lack of quality healthcare in rural areas, just to name a few. In terms of what is being done, that depends on the area and what group is being served. A key component of this is social class. People of lower class status, the poor or working poor, are disproportionately impacted by lack of quality care. Since minority groups are also likely to be members of the poor or working poor classes, they are also more likely to be dealing with this problem. So, programs that help poor people get free healthcare or affordable insurance are working to help reduce these disparities. Among Native American tribes, there are often tribal run health care programs, insurance options and clinics available for tribal members.
