American History Will Come Alive For You!
Once the transcontinental railroad was complete, people no longer needed covered wagons to go west. The government had aided the railroad in many ways, such as selling them land and help with empirical domain. As a result, people flooded to the western states to find a better life than in the crowded east, bringing their skills and business sense unique to them and being a boon to the economy.. Many also thought they still might find a wealth that they had only dreamed of, such as in gold strikes. Almost everyone hoped and believed that California was the place for them to settle and start new lives, especially, San Francisco, which would have a horrible earthquake that would cause fires that would level that city. Still, by all the new man power, they would quickly rebuild.
