having a final on it please help me!

HYPOTHESIS TESTING


A test of the breaking strength of 6 ropes manufactured by the company showed a mean breaking strength of 7750 pounds and a standard deviation of 145 pounds, where as the manufacture claimed mean breaking strength of 1000 pounds. can we support the manufactures claim at the level of significance 0.01?

A hypothesis test is based on your alpha. Since you say within .01 confidence, that would be at .99

.99 is about 5 standard deviations away.

7750 lbs is way beyond the 1000lbs of mean breaking strength.

Therefore by analysis of a t-test, you would reject the null
