The benefits of a nucleus are that the DNA is protected from various cellular damage since it is stored within the walls of the nuclear membrane. One of the cons of having a nucleus is the extra time it takes to go from transcription to translation. Prokaryotes can simultaneously perform transcription and translation because they do not have a nucleus, whereas eurkaryotes need to finish transcription in the nucleus and then do translation outside it.
