How could you quantify the amount of starch using picture of leaves (both "light" and "dark") that have been stained by Iodine after being boiled in methanol?
If you take a leaf (regardless of it being light or dark) and you boil it with methanol and then stain it with iodine to test for the presence of starch. The iodine is going to change from brown to blue black. If the leaf does not contain any starch the iodine will present as brown.
