An insight is a discovery. In any science (you listed the topic as sociology), it comes from studying the data. I worked on data collection for a study on early childhood education, which included phone interviews with ECE teachers. I was interested to note that the teachers in government-funded programs such as Head Start, though in less affluent areas, seemed to be more highly educated and to earn higher salaries. I very much wished I could get in on the data analysis and see whether my impression was an insight, supported by the data and holding true outside of my New York/New Jersey area.

Hello, I want to confirm. Isn't your example more of an observation? If it's not, how is that different from an observation?10/31/19
