Remember lal=a when a≥0 and lal=-a when a<0.
(a) g(x)=l -0.5x-1 l
If -0.5x-1≥0, that is, x≤-2, then g(x)=-0.5x-1
If -0.5x-1<0 that is, x>-2, then g(x)=0.5x+1
(b) g(x)=l 2x-5 l
If 2x-5≥0, that is, x≥2.5, then g(x)=2x-5
If 2x-5<0 that is, x<2.5, then g(x)=-2x+5
(b) g(x)=l x+3 l
If x+3≥0, that is, x≥-3, then g(x)=x+3
If x+3<0 that is, x<-3, then g(x)=-x-3

As for (a) It was -0.5x-1≥0 (greater than equal) and -0.5x-1<0 (less than) in the first place as (b) and (c). When I solve the inequalities, I needed to reverse the inequality when I divide each side by negative number (-0.5), so it looks different than (b) and (c), but it was same in the first place. -0.5x-1≥0, -0.5x-1+1≥0+1, -0.5x≥1, x≤1/(-0.5), x≤-210/28/19

why is x greater than a certain number for some of them, rather than greater and equal to the certain number?10/28/19
