I'm stuck on this precalc question

Give the multipart rule for g(x) for the following functions. g(x) = |f(x)|

(a) f(x) = −0.5x − 1

(b) f(x) = 2x − 5

(c) f(x) = x + 3

why is x greater than a certain number for some of them, rather than greater and equal to the certain number?

As for (a) It was -0.5x-1≥0 (greater than equal) and -0.5x-1<0 (less than) in the first place as (b) and (c). When I solve the inequalities, I needed to reverse the inequality when I divide each side by negative number (-0.5), so it looks different than (b) and (c), but it was same in the first place. -0.5x-1≥0, -0.5x-1+1≥0+1, -0.5x≥1, x≤1/(-0.5), x≤-2
