The perimeter of the rectangular playing field is 306 yards. The length of the field is 66 yards less than double the width. What are the dimensions of the playing​ field?

2x-66 = length

Perimeter = all sides added together

P=L+L+W+W

306 = (2x-66)+(2x-66)+x+x Combine like terms

306=6x-132 Add 132 to both sides

306+132=6x-132+132

438=6x Divide both sides by 6

438/6=6x/6

x=73 yards is the width

For the length, 2(73)-66 = 80 yards is the length
