Foam craft material

Question

I need 1/2 inch wide strips of foam craft paper. It comes in 9 inch x 12 inch sheets. How many strips can I get per sheet?

It depends on how long you need the strips to be. If they only need to be 9 inches long, then you can cut your 1/2 inch strips from the 12 inch length. Divide 12 inches into 1/2 inch pieces (in other words how many 1/2 inch pieces can you get from 12 inches? Since you get 2 from 1 inch, how many do you get from 12?). If the strips need to be 12 inches long, then you are taking them from the 9 inch side. So this will effect the total number of 1/2 inch strips you get. We need more information to accurately determine the answer to this problem.
