Iwould select Brutus for this exercise. Brutus is struggling with his public self and his private self as well. Brutus's private thoughts are that he does not want to kill Caesar because he is ethically opposed to murder. Then Brutus also thinks that if the Senate does not kill Caesar, he will be a tyrant . the only way to save the Republic is to get rid of Casear.
We have the same problem here in the United States, except we are not planning on killing anyone. To some Trump is already a tyrant and seems to have no respect for the Constitution, no respect for climate change and no respect for our European allies. Th Democrats want to get rid of him by impeaching him before he ruins the country.The Republics are behind him because this is an election year and they think if they won't follow Trump, they will not be reelected.
