If Zach makes 5 batches of cookies, he uses 5 • 3/5 cup or 3 cups sugar total

If he then divides the cookies between 3 friends, then 3 cups / 3 friends = 1 cup sugar / friend

So he uses 1 cup of sugar for each portion of the cookies given to each friend.
