First, you must determine exactly how much each coin is worth before you can add them up. We know that a dime is worth 10 cents, or $0.10, a nickel is worth five cents, or $0.05, and a quarter is worth 25 cents, or $0.25. Now we can plus in how many of each coin we have: (18 x $0.10) + (24 x $0.05) + (30 x $0.25) = Total amount of money. For dimes - 18 x $0.10 is equal to $1.80. For nickels, 24 x $0.05 is equal to $1.20. For quarters, 30 x $0.25 is equal to $7.50. Add up $1.80 + $1.20 + $7.50 = $10.50 in total.
