8=24/3 6=24/4

Let x = the number. Then x+x/3+x/4=38 or 12x/12 + 4x/12 + 3x/12 = 38

19x/12=38 19x=12(38)=456 x=456/19=24 or x=12(38)/19=12(2)=24
