Nicole bought five times as many chicken sandwiches as ham sandwiches. Chicken Sandwiches cost $32 each. Ham sandwiches cost $10 more than each chicken sandwich. How many ham sandwiches did she buy if she spent $1414 in all?

Let 5x = number of chicken sandwiches So, 5x(32) + x(42) = 1414

x = number of ham sandwiches or 160x + 42x = 1414 = 202x

Therefore, x = 7 = number of ham sandwiches

and 5x = 35 = number of chicken sandwiches
