finding the missing length

a trapezoid has an area of 184inches^2.  the height is 8in. and the length of one base is 16in. write and solve an equation to find the other base

Let x = length of the unknown base

 

Then, ½(height)(sum of bases) = 184

         ½(8)(16 + x) = 184

               4(16 + x) = 184

               64 + 4x = 184

                        4x = 120

                          x = 30
