It depends on the context. If someone asks, for example, "Can the cinema (i.e. the local movie theater) be used for a fund raiser?" it would be correct to reply this way, as in "As you know, we used to hold fund raisers there but it got sold and the new management won't allow it, so it can no longer be used." Without knowing the context of that sentence, however, it is difficult to give a precise answer to your question.
