I've had over 5 years teaching English/ESL online and in person and much more experience in the business world. While I am well prepared for what the teaching goals are, I also am flexible to adjust the sessions to focusing on something that I find out in the first couple of minutes that takes precedence over what' been planned. Thus, my lessons have a dynamic, and sometimes unpredictable, element to them. Although I don't feel like I've quite achieved the level of one of my favorite teachers, what I admired most about her was that she didn't just teach but brought her teaching to an art form.

I've been married 34 years, have three grown children (one of whom has her doctorate in music and another who is a novelist) and two grandchildren, aged 4 and 1. What I've learned from all of them as well as everyone else I interact with (including fellow drivers!), even for brief moments, that in everything there is a purpose.

After graduating college, I taught ESL for three years in Papua New Guinea to 7th-10th graders. It was a very rich cultural experience as this was the first generation that was exposed to western education in their entire history. It was also challenging as there were very few materials and resources at my disposal so I had to not just prepare lessons but develop curricula as well. I developed great relationships with some of the students and became the first European visit one of the student's village during a vacation.

Since then, I worked in various capacities in business, including industrial training and film making. After retiring two years ago, I decided to return to the one thing I enjoy the most: teaching. I taught ESL online to students from 32 countries and had a teacher rating of 4.94.
