Night and "knight" in speech?

In English as Germanic language K is ignored at the beginning of word in speech. *Night* and *knight* have to be pronounced similar. Then how to differentiate?

If someone heard either word: knight or night, without reading them nor having any contextual clues it would be impossible to differentiate them. The way to differentiate lies in the context of the conversation and whether the subject is talking about an individual, a knight; or a thing, the night.

Knowing both meanings one can then decipher this phrase: The knight left the castle at night.

You differentiate by context. For example, if the sentence is, "In the middle ages it was a great honor to become a ______" versus "In the winter the ______ are longer."
