It depends on the way you write it. If you were to write "Character X wore a qipao every day" it might not come across the way you want. But if you were to write something like "Character X wore a garment that almost resembled the qipao on Earth", that might work. Obviously these are very simplified examples, but make it clear that the garment is not necessarily connected to the culture but more of a way of understanding your extraterrestrial world. I think if you word it cleverly enough you can use the type of vocabulary you're worried about with your story. This might also be the time you need to work on the backstory. For example, your character could have had relatives that traveled to Earth in the past and brought stuff back, making it possible to use in your story. Sounds like a fun writing project, hope this helps!

Question. In the view and description of some shared details, it is not clear to me the assignment you are trying to create. It appears you are speaking from a writing perspective, although you mention fantasy in regards to readers, which indicates imaginary in thought or a skit expression liken unto a play. Creating your outline in a way that demonstrates clearly and effectively your intended story impression and chararacters will be viewed as comprehensible and interesting to your readers, no matter the cultural setting or language. In the process of writing about earth or somewhere else, do keep in mind, you still, live on earth and therefore be cautious, aware, and reflective how you use language as though you were the reader and the characterized being or person from the planet or place you’re writing about. Note: This comment is based on what I supposed you were saying and I simply mentioned an overall portion. I did not include the sybolism portion currently.07/06/19
