Spoken English is particularly important for children because language learning is facilitated far more when the child is young. It takes much longer for an adult to learn a new language than a child. In addition, a child can learn the correct English accent which can almost never be learned when they are older. Since English is the accepted method of international communication, one's accent affects one's ability to be understood by others.
