Florida and Georgia have had water disputes, and land disputes related to water access.
Lately, Florida's governor said Georgia and Florida will be in a "cold war" if Stacey Abrams wins. the "war" seems to be about covid policies and lockdowns.
California, Nevada and Arizona have had similar disputes or "water wars" over access to rivers running through the 3 states. Plus the Indian reservations get in on the action, as they are semi or quasi-independent nations, with their own water rights.
West Virginia seceded from Virginia when Virginia seceded from the Union. (not really the Hillbillies they're portrayed to be)
There once was a country called the "Republic of West Florida" extending from current Florida into southern Mississippi, on the southern edge of the North American continent. Then the president sent federal troops ending the barely born fetus nation in its infancy.
currently there are people pushing to divide California into 3 states, call it a "civil war" of sorts, as rural vs. urban interests conflict.
