It is very well known that music can uplift an individual's mood or bring it down, depending on the music and the memories the music invokes in an individual, the association of the music and the memory can be powerful.

It is my opinion that, although some are instinct driven and some are taught, music is not a choice of personality or behavior dependent, rather one has to think how the mood of a person interacts with music and the type of music they listen to.

The exposure to different types of music is another factor of course, but even if one has been exposed to every type of music an individual will prefer one genre over another.

Culture will play a role, for instance someone who is from India or France will have a preference to the types of music that are native to their country - the style might be more of an influencer but that is because the mood is effected.
