When I was learning Spanish, both listening to a song and looking up the lyrics really helped me.
Usually I would start by listening to the song a couple times and trying to understand as much as I could.
Then if there were still parts that I couldn't understand what they were saying, I would go look up the lyrics to the song to find out what was actually being said.
Then I would listen to the song again paying attention to how the singer said those words so that I could look for patterns and similarities in other songs.
This also helped me to practice speaking phrases the way that a native would speak them.
Hopefully this helps!
