The Oregon Trail was a route that began in Independence, Missouri and spanned 2,000 miles to Oregon City, Oregon. It was traveled by thousands of pioneers in the 1800's as the emigrated West. The trail was very rough and hard to travel and many people died along the way. There is also a virtual game called Oregon Trail that was played by elementary age children in the late 80's and 1990's which helped them to learn about the hardships faced by early pioneers who traveled the trail.
