They were both used in the weaving and textile industry. The Flying Shuttle was invented first in 1733- it made the weaving process faster because instead of one person moving the weaving shuttle across the loom by hand, the flying shuttle would shoot across the loom, making weaving much faster.

The spinning jenny was invented in 1764 because weaving was much quicker so weavers needed more thread. The spinning jenny helped make thread much faster because spinners could now use 8 vertical spindles on the jenny, rather than just one and spin 8x more cloth at a time
