A scale drawing of a square object has a scale of 1 in. : 5 mm. The scale drawing has a length of 2.5 inches. Find the perimeter and the area of the object in the scale drawing. Then find the perimeter and area of the actual object.

Set this up using a proportion, 1 in : 5 mm = 2.5 in : x mm

if you take cross products you get 1x = 5 (2.5 ) or

x = 12.5 mm

So, the scale is a square with sides 2.5 in, the actual square has sides 12.5 mm

P = 4S and A = S²

Now that you know the sides (S) you can find the perimeter and area of each square.
