That is a good question. There's a couple of solutions here.
- Ink your pencil sketch using a micron or other pen and erase the graphite, then color inbetween the linework with colored pencils after
- leave the graphite outlines and color around them, then go back and erase the pencil if you don't want linework
- Use a lightbox and some tracing paper so your colored pencil drawing can be separate from your pencil drawing with the outlines
I think it depends more on what you want your final drawing to look like. Do you want it to just be color, or do you want there to be crisp linework? Are you planning on erasing the graphite? Let me know if you need any more help with this, and thanks for the good question.
