The toxicity of the Cry proteins is specific to only insect larvae and it is unharmful to humans, resulting in exploitation of these proteins for human benefit.

Benefits to humans:

1. used as an adjuvant in vaccines - non-toxic to humans and cost of production is low.
2. Exploited to produce insect resistance crops.
