Your question seems incomplete, however there are some obvious answers to this question. South was for slavery. The North thought slavery was wrong. The South wanted Slavery to expand into the new Western Territory. The North wanted the west to be a non slave territory. The South's economy primarily depended upon cotton which was dependent on slave labor. The North's economy was only in part dependent on byproducts of cotton.
