It certainly depends on the native language and country of origin. Losing a heavy accent in 5 one-hour lessons seems almost impossible. English learners from Eastern Europe and Russia, for example, may live fully integrated in an English environment for many years and still struggle to lose their native accent. The age that one begins to study English is also an important factor. Younger English learners will lose their accent much more quickly than older adults.
