Kayla,
In order to answer the question - what was the cost of one box of cookies? Follow these steps:
- how many boxes of cookies does Tyler have? 702 cookies baked / 18 cookies in each box. 702÷18=39 boxes.
- Once you know how many total boxes Tyler has, you can find the unit price by ratios or by simple division. Total cost of $136.50 for 39 boxes. The unit price is calculated by divided the total amount earned by the total number of boxes or $139.50 ÷ 39 = $3.50 per box.
- To check your work, work backward. If 1 box of cookies cost $3.50, how much for 39 boxes?
Hope this helps you.
