Sam needs enough wallpaper to cover an area that was 900 square inches. The store had a roll of wallpaper that was 30 inches wide. How many inches long of the wallpaper on the roll does Sam need to purchase? in inches.

As Sam needs to buy a piece of wallpaper (in rectangular shape) of a given area, and he knows the width of the wallpaper, he should use the area formula to work out the length.

Area of a rectangle, A = Length * Width

substitute 900 for A, and 30 for width, and you can solve for length
