This isn't exactly prealgebra, but we can set the equation up anyway. I'll call the smaller number x. Then the larger number should be x+2. You told us that x^2 + 3 (x+2) = 76, right? Subtract 76 from each side of the equation then you can solve by graphing, factoring, or using the quadratic equation. If you think you have more than one answer, remember that x was odd.
