QUICK GENERAL WRITING QUESTION for an essay!!! please??!! anyone??

hi, I am writing an essay in which needs to be 2000 words. My introduction is on the longer side and is the length of two paragraphs. I was just wanted the opinion of an English professional or teacher as I was wondering if it is a good idea to divide this lengthy intro I have written into two paragraphs. Like is it okay for a 2000 word essay to have a introduction that is a little longer than one page??? and if so is it okay to divide it into two paragraphs. Also, I thought it would be good to mention to you that I have tried shortening it, only that I can only shorten it so much because than I will start taking out important points within it. Part of the reason why it is on the longer side is because my essay topic is a complex one that expects me to cover allot of aspects within it and also my prof wants me to prove my argument win many ways so I have multiple points that I need to cover in my essay and therefore thats why my intro is kinda long.

Hi Lora!

This is a difficult question to answer without actually reading what you've written, but there's no absolute rule that I know of against having an essay introduction at the length you've described. Likewise, there's no absolute rule that I know of that says your introduction can't be two paragraphs instead of one. But if you're still worried about the length of your intro or the fact that it unfolds over the space of two paragraphs, you might consider trying to group some of your introductory points into higher order conceptual categories so you don't need to mention all the minutia in such detail right away.
