Better ways of vectorizing photos than Illustrator's Trace?

Are there any better ways of vectorizing photos than Illustrator's Trace? I don't have one of them Wacom boards so I can't really do this by hand.

Depending on the depth and detail of the image it is best to do it by hand. A mouse is your best friend for this a wacom tablet is not necessary. Use the pen tool in adobe illustrator you set points and create lines and curves and trace the object. It is very time consuming. Another option again depending on how much detail are in your images is that you can do the image trace and select the high fidelity photo option from the dropdown.
