Can you see while drawing on the drawing tablet?

I bought a drawing tablet. But when I draw on it, I can see the drawing I am making in an image editing software such as Microsoft Paint or on Microsoft Office products, but I cannot see anything on the drawing tablet. It is rather disappointing. It's just like a mouse in a different shape. I was hoping that when I draw on a drawing tablet, I will be able to see the drawing (like when you draw on your phone), and it'll have some in-built image editing software.The tablet I bought is Bamboo One Pen CTE-660/K0-C.Is this usual or is there some knob or switch I need to turn on to see things on the tablet?Sorry for the stupid question.

Hey there!

Unfortunately, theBamboo One Pen CTE-660 doesn't come with an HD screen for you to be able to see the drawing while drawing on the tablet. So you will still have to look at the computer screen while drawing. But, in the professional field there are a lot of designers and illustrators that use this instead of the mouse!

There is a bit of a learning curve but after that passes, most people really prefer using a tablet than a mouse for everything on the computer!

To start you are using the wrong software to draw with. You want to use a software that understands pen pressure sensitivity so your actually using the tablet to its full extent. There's also pen tilt and eraser on the other end that many basic programs do not follow. Photoshop and Sai paint tool are good examples. I think yours may have came with a program to use as well. If not, Try GIMP. It is a free program and very similar to Photoshop and can work for what you need it for.

As for the screen part of your question, You have to get one with a screen built in. that is just a sensor board that tracks the screen. It takes some getting use to, but the tablet is a lot better than a mouse. IF you want to, you can invest into the screen ones. They cost anywhere between $400 - $600 USD. I say it's best to start off with yours till you get use to using a drawing tablet.
