Kay, the first step to graphing the line is to start at point (-4,1). Since the slope is 3, the next point is (-3,4) if you go up 3 units and one unit right, or the next point is (-5,-2) if you go 3 units down and 1 unit left. The point is slope is simply a ratio between a change of y-coordinates and x-coordinates of two points on a line.
Note: slope=rise/run = 3/1
