Should I use contracted forms in scientific presentations?

In a scientific paper am I right in believing that one would write “it is” instead of “it’s”? In a scientific presentation, would one use contracted forms like “it’s” instead of “it is” or is something like this too informal for a scientific conversation?

In any academic paper I would not use any contracrions as they are part of a casual English not academic or professional writing.

Hi Stefanie! Yes you are correct, in all formal writing, especially scientific and academic papers, one should write out the full forms of the words instead of the contractions. In all of my college classes this was an expectation for our writing as it is understood to be more proper and formal. I hope this helps!
