Jill found she could create 15 bracelets in 4 hours.  At this pace how many hours will it take her to make 25 bracelets?

Your proportion wants to have "number of bracelets to number of hours" on both sides, so...

 

15 is to 4 as 25 is to ??, which makes your proportion look like:

 

15/4 = 25/n  Then you cross multiply and solve for n:

 

15n = 100; divide by 15 so n = 100/15, which is 6.666666... for ever, or 6 and two-thirds.

 

Two-thirds of an hour is 40 minutes, so her total time for 25 bracelets is...

 

6 hours and 40 minutes.
