In a question where we suspect to know the answer, where do I have to put the closing question mark:

When using upside down question marks (signo de interrogación de apertura,) they should bracket the segment of the statement that is actually inquisitive. For example:

Son de color verde, ¿verdad? --- They're green, right?

¿Quieres venir conmigo? --- Do you want to come with me?

Si voy al supermercado, ¿qué debo comprar? --- If I go to the supermarket, what should I buy?

In these examples, only the interrogative clause is surrounded by question marks. In a situation where you already suspect the answer, like the first example, the rule stays the same.

The question marks in Spanish are similar to those in English (with the exception of the beginning '¿' at the start of a question). So in that regard it would go at the end of the phrase.

Eg.

Son las tres. ¿Verdad?

or

¿Ya son las tres?
