Averages of viewership

Question

If I have .6 average viewers per hour, and have streamed for 12 hours. How many hours would I need to stream with an average of 4 viewers to average 3 per hour?

So the goal of these kind of problems is making a formula out of the short word problems they ask you. I started by multiplying 12 by .6, for all the old viewers.

this is divided by 12, for the average

then we add the new viewers, 4 per hour for x hours. x also adds on the bottom, to increase the total hours of streaming

.06(12) + 4x

----------------- = 3

12 + x

then we set this equal to 3, the aim for the average. Then solve for x!
