For starters you need to figure out how much the apples and bananas are per pound. You see that the bananas are $1.17 for 3 pounds, so you need to take the $1.17 and divide it by 3 pounds, you will see that for one pound of bananas they are .39 cents. Then you see that the apples are $3.38 for 2 pounds, so you need to take the $3.38 and divide it by the 2 pounds, you will see that for one pound of apples they are $1.69. After you figure out how much each is per pound you need to subtract the $1.69 from the .39 cents to see the difference between the prices. So $1.69 minus .39 cents is $1.30. So the bananas are $1.39 cheaper than the apples.
$1.17 / 3 pounds = .39 Cents per pound for bananas
$3.38 / 2 pounds = $1.69 per pound for apples
$3.38 - $1.69 = $1.30 The apples are $1.38 more than the bananas per pound
