Question

Two pools are being filled with water. To start, the first pool contains 981

 liters of water and the second pool is empty. Water is being added to the first pool at a rate of 15.5

 liters per minute. Water is being added to the second pool at a rate of 42.75

 liters per minute. 

After how many minutes will the two pools have the same amount of water?	minutes	How much water will be in each pool when they have the same amount?	liters

Lst x be the number of minutes for the pools to be filled.

981 + 15.5 x = 42.75 x

- 15.5 x. - 15.5 x

981 = 27.25 x (divide both sides by 27.25)

x = 36 minutes

Ffirst pool contains 981 + 15.5 multiplied by 36 = 981 + 558 = 1,539 liters of water
